What Size and Weight Sleep Heavy Blanket Should You Get?
Sleep Heavy recommends a weighted blanket of about 10% of your body weight, then a size that suits your bed: Single, Double or King/Queen for adults, in 6.8kg or 9kg.
Sleep Heavy recommends a weighted blanket of about 10% of your body weight, then a size that suits your bed: Single, Double or King/Queen for adults, in 6.8kg or 9kg. Below we walk through its own guidance, the exact sizes it lists, and what happens if you pick wrong. You can find the current code on our Sleep Heavy discount code page.
Start with Sleep Heavy’s 10% guidance
Sleep Heavy’s size guide and each adult blanket page say to aim for about 10% of your body weight. The same pages add that you can size up or down depending on your preference, so the figure is a starting point, not a strict rule.
The maths is simple: move the decimal point one place. Someone around 68kg lands on 6.8kg, and someone around 90kg lands on 9kg. If you fall between the two, Sleep Heavy leaves the choice to you.

The adult cotton weighted blanket, the mink weighted blanket and the bamboo blanket each come in two weights:
- 6.8kg
- 9kg
The chunky knit blanket comes in one weight only, 6.8kg. One practical point: you will lift, fold and wash whatever you buy, and a 9kg blanket is a real armful to carry to the laundry.
Match the size to your bed
These are the adult dimensions Sleep Heavy lists for its cotton, mink and bamboo blankets:
- Single: 122cm x 183cm
- Double: 152cm x 203cm
- King/Queen: 218cm x 228cm
Weight and size are linked in the catalogue. Single and Double come in both 6.8kg and 9kg, but King/Queen is sold in 9kg only. If you want the largest size, the weight choice is made for you.

The chunky knit weighted blanket is one size. Sleep Heavy’s size guide page lists it at 122cm x 183cm, while the product page lists 114cm x 182cm, so check the product page before you order if a few centimetres matter. There is also a smaller cotton lap blanket, which Sleep Heavy lists at 85cm x 55cm and 2.5kg.
Measure the top of your mattress and compare it with the list. Sleep Heavy’s size guide page also shows each blanket drawn on common mattress sizes, which is the quickest way to picture the fit.
Kids blankets
Sleep Heavy sells kids blankets in three weights: 2.2kg, 3.2kg and 4.5kg. The kids product page lists the 2.2kg blanket at 92cm x 120cm and the 3.2kg and 4.5kg blankets at 104cm x 152cm. The size guide page lists 104cm x 152cm for all three, so confirm on the product page. The covers come in blue mink with sensory dots, a mountain print and grey cotton.
The American Academy of Pediatrics advises against weighted blankets for babies. Ask Sleep Heavy about its age guidance before buying a kids blanket.
If you pick the wrong weight
Sleep Heavy’s FAQ says you can return or exchange a blanket if you get the wrong weight, as long as it is within 30 days. Its refund policy sets the conditions:
- The blanket must be clean and in “as new” condition, with no debris or pet fur.
- You need the original receipt as proof of purchase.
- Return shipping is at your cost, and on an exchange you pay any price difference.
- The policy allows one return or exchange per household, within 30 days of delivery.
Because you get only one exchange, it pays to decide carefully the first time. Start the process by emailing Sleep Heavy, as its FAQ asks, before you post anything back.
A quick checklist before you order
- Work out roughly 10% of your body weight and pick the closer of 6.8kg or 9kg.
- Measure your mattress and compare it with the Single, Double and King/Queen sizes.
- Remember that King/Queen is 9kg only and the chunky knit is 6.8kg only.
- For a child’s blanket, read the note above and ask Sleep Heavy about age first.
- Keep your receipt in case you need the one exchange.
