Techable Returns and Warranty: What to Know

Techable gives you 30 days from delivery to request a return, adds a 90-day warranty to its devices, and sells extended SafeTech coverage on top, but each comes with conditions worth knowing before you order.

Techable gives you 30 days from delivery to request a return, adds a 90-day warranty to its devices, and sells extended SafeTech coverage on top, but each comes with conditions worth knowing before you order. The main ones are a 4% fee on change of mind returns and cancellations, a written email request for everything, and warranties that end if the device leaves the United States. For the current code, see our Techable codes and deals.

Cancelling an order

Techable asks for cancellation requests by email within 12 hours of payment confirmation. Its policy says cancellations carry a 4% processing fee, which it links to the card processing fees it is charged. The same section also says it may be able to cancel before shipment with no restocking fee, so ask quickly if you change your mind. Techable says orders ship within 24 to 48 business hours, so that window is short.

Returns within 30 days

Here is what Techable’s return policy page asks of US buyers:

  • Email your request within 30 days of delivery. Requests cannot be opened over the phone.
  • You pay return shipping unless the return is covered by warranty or dead on arrival protection.
  • Send the item back in the condition you received it. Damage in return transit can be taken from the refund, so full value shipping insurance is recommended.
  • Returns for a change of mind carry a 4% restocking fee.
  • Remove iCloud, Find My and any account links before the refund is issued.
  • Returned computers are inspected to confirm no parts were tampered with, and Techable may ask for a valid government-issued ID to prevent fraud.
  • Refunds are processed within 3 to 5 business days of inspection, and store credit is an option if you plan to buy a replacement.

Products are not eligible for return after 30 days from delivery, so open and check your device soon after it arrives. Keep all the packaging until any request is closed. For shipping damage claims, Techable asks for photos of every side of the box, the full label, the inner packaging and the front and back of the product.

The 90-day warranty and SafeTech

Techable’s policy says all products include a 90-day standard warranty covering diagnostic fees, repair, labor and return shipping after service. You pay to ship the device to the service center.

SafeTech, which Techable calls its sister company, handles warranties and sells longer coverage. Techable’s FAQ says you can upgrade to 1 or 2 years within your first 30 days, and some listings, such as the 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro, say coverage can extend to 3 years. Check the plan offered at checkout for your device. Points from SafeTech’s terms page to note:

  • A $99 deductible per repair.
  • Batteries, accessories, cables and software issues are not covered.
  • Accidental damage is only covered if you add it within the first 30 days.
  • Back up your data before sending a device in, since SafeTech is not responsible for data loss.

If you live outside the United States

Techable’s FAQ says it ships to over 100 countries, with shipping worked out at checkout, and that you pay any customs fees, duties and taxes. Two points need care:

  • Its return policy page describes international returns within 30 days, with a refund of the item subtotal only unless there is a confirmed hardware issue. Its FAQ says it does not offer returns on international orders. Ask Techable which applies before you order.
  • Both the standard warranty and SafeTech are void if the product is taken outside the United States.

Buying for someone else
